Welcome to the Village of Luck, Wisconsin!
VILLAGE OF LUCK- PUBLIC NOTICE TO ALL CUSTOMERS OF THE LUCK MUNICIPAL WATER UTILITY
The increase will only affect water and fire protection rates- sewer rates will stay the same.
The Luck Municipal Water Utility (Utility) has filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (Commission) to increase water rates. The increase is necessary due to a 74.38 percent increase in gross plant investment and a 55.62 percent increase in operating expenses since the last water conventional case was completed in 2013.
The total increase in water revenues requested is $166,827 which will result in an estimated overall rate increase of 93.64 percent over the water utility’s present revenues. If the request is granted, the water bill for an average Residential customer with a ⅝-inch or ¾-inch meter who uses 7,000 gallons of water per quarter will increase from $72.68 to $143.52, or 97.47 percent including the public fire protection charge.
All water utilities in Wisconsin are regulated and governed by the PSC (Public Service Commission).
If you have any questions, please contact the Luck Municipal Water Utility at 715-472-2221.
Luck is best known for its status as the “Yo-Yo Capital of the World” between 1946 and 1965 when it was the home of the Duncan Yo-Yo Company. During those years, nearly every family in Luck was involved in turning plentiful hard maple into yo-yos that were sold nationally and even around the world.”
Luck is a Danish community in a rural, lake filled part of Wisconsin, an hour NE of Minneapolis and St Paul MN.
Luck was originally two settlements, Luck on Big Butternut Lake, and West Denmark further west, founded by Danish immigrants in 1869 on the north and west shores of Little Butternut Lake and extending out for a few miles.
According to one of the local legends, the loggers in the 1800’s, who were on their way to the St. Croix River, were lucky to make it to the big hotel on Big Butternut Lake in Lawson City before sundown. If you made it that far, you had put in a long day and were “in luck,” therein lies its name.
Nestled on the south shore of Big Butternut Lake, Luck Golf Course features a variety of tees and terrain to challenge and satisfy players of all abilities.
Big Butternut Lake is a 384 acre lake located in the Village of Luck, Wisconsin. It has a maximum depth of 19 feet. Visitors have access to the lake from a public boat landing. Fish include Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye.
Living in the Village of Luck can be a delightful experience. The village provides the perfect small-town charm. Residents enjoy being nestled in the natural beauty of northwest Wisconsin, perfect for outdoor activities like camping and fishing.
